Our research focus is on Diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is an ocular manifestation of diabetes, a systemic disease, which affects up to 80 percent of all patients who have had diabetes for 10 years or more. We want to understand the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy with the main focus on the role and mechanisms of ocular renin angiotensin system in development and progression of diabetic retinopathy. In order to Investigate and develop novel therapeutic targets for diabetic retinopathy we need to find strategies to enhance the protective ACE2/Ang-(1-7) axis of Renin angiotensin system.
