Clayton Santiago graduated from Manipal University, India with a B.Sc in Biotechnology. He then joined the Biological Sciences M.Sc program at Villanova University where he defended his thesis titled ‘Characterization of the activity of the cloned SPI-2 type III secretion system in Salmonella Typhimurium.’ He is currently a graduate student in the University of Florida’s Interdisciplinary Program in Biomedical sciences with a concentration in genetics. His research currently focuses on the characterization of the Leukemia Inhibitory Factor promoter and its usage as a gene therapy strategy in animal models of inherited retinal disease.
